Legal Counsel Throughout the Appeals Process photo

Working through the legal process can be a time-consuming and exhausting process. In the best case, you may walk away with a fair settlement, or, with your dispute satisfactorily resolved. Unfortunately, that is not always how the story ends. IF YOU ARE NOT SATISFIED WITH THE DECISION HANDED DOWN BY THE TRIAL COURT IN YOUR CASE, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE THE OREGON COURT OF APPEALS REVIEW THAT DECISION.

Even the Best Lawyer Can't be an Expert at Everything!

The skills required to be a good trial lawyer are very different than the skills needed to win a case on appeal. Our appellate attorney, Margaret H. Leek Leiberan, has a Harvard law education and 30 years of experience in Oregon appeals which have given her the excellent legal research and writing skills that are required to clearly present the law and the facts of your case to the courts of appeal. She is experienced in making the powerful but brief oral arguments that are required on appeal and is respected as a strong and effective advocate for her clients.

Over 60 Years of Combined Legal Experience

At the law office of Jensen & Leiberan, we bring over 60 years of combined courtroom experience, including over 30 years of experience representing clients in appellate court. We represent clients on appeals of trial court judgments from all over the state of Oregon.

Contact our firm online or call 503-641-7990 to schedule an initial consultation at our office in Beaverton, Oregon. In your initial consultation we will evaluate the chance of success of your appeal and tell you the probable cost of the appeal.

Experienced Appellate Lawyer

In between private practice positions, Margaret H. Leek Leiberan worked as a staff attorney for the Oregon Court of Appeals. During her time at the appellate court, she honed her writing and research skills and learned what it takes to make a persuasive argument on appeal. Judges often read up to 20 legal briefs in a day, so it is critical that your lawyer be able to tell your story concisely but completely and persuasively. The legal arguments must be clear and supported by thorough research.

While we cannot guarantee that filing an appeal will change the outcome of your case, we can make certain that the appellate judges understand all of the relevant facts of your case and that the most persuasive legal argument possible is made in both the briefs and in oral argument. Attorneys are often heavily questioned when they are presenting their argument to the panel of appellate judges and Margaret Leiberan has the experience, knowledge and ability to answer the judges' questions persuasively and thoroughly.

Prior to arguing a case, Margaret H. Leek Leiberan carefully studies all of the testimony, evidence and related laws. This preparation allows her to effectively respond to any question raised by the judges. Our prior appeals have involved virtually every area of the law except criminal. The kinds of cases previously handled by Margaret Leiberan are too numerous to list but include:
